Our director, designer and jeweller of Babyanything, Lucie Ferguson married Rory Fletcher on November 19th, 2016. She would like to share her photos from the day with you along with the details of all the beautiful souls below who helped create such magic.
Venue – The Grove in the hinterland of Byron Bay. The Grove was magical, it is a homestead where you want to get married, holiday in, shoot your next look book and then move in forever and never leave. The interior is perfectly styled and full of inspiration. The house sits atop rolling hills of macadamia trees and the sunset is nothing short of pure magic.
Photography – Lara Hotz. Lara is nothing short of a dream, you feel like she is your own personal cheerleader of love. Fate intervened when we decided to book our wedding venue only 4 months out from the date and there were no photographers available. I had always screenshot Lara’s weddings but thought of course she would be booked out years in advance. I called up and she explained she had a cancellation for our weekend just the night before, that was that, we booked immediately and started assembling the dream team.
Event Planning – The Events Lounge. The lovely Racheal and her team did the planning and styling co-ordination. I had such a clear vision for what I had dreamed up for the theme, vibe and styling and Rachael brought her little black book of North Coast vendors and made the visions come to life. Rory’s only requests for the wedding were to have a vintage Airstream caravan as the bar, festoon lighting and his beloved Harley Motorbike included in the decoration, 1 week after meeting Rachael and we had booked the Airstream bar so Rory was happy! We found our amazing caterers and florist through Rach’s recommendations and we will be forever grateful.
Flowers – Poppy and Fern. Jess was a delight to work with and has such a kind energy to be around, we worked on our vision for the fresh flower lei’s and wedding foliage as a team. I will always remember waking up on the day of the wedding to see Jess and her team stringing thousands of fresh orchids for the leis and arbour.
Catering – Your Gourmet. The divine Leela from your Gourmet was like a culinary angel and her team were superstars. She really listened to what we wanted, instead of the usual wedding menu items of Crusted Barramundi, Oysters or decadent Pork Belly we asked for a Hawaiian/ Byron Food truck inspired menu. We asked for burgers and hand cut chips, but the best gourmet burgers our guests would have ever eaten. Leela delivered the most beautiful, entree, mains and grazing table and our guests still cannot stop raving about the food. The attention to detail for ingredients was incredible, with Leela having a local cheese maker make a special cheese for the burgers!
Invites/ Surfboard Artwork – Brent Smith. Brent worked closely with me to create the most beautiful invitations featuring motifs from my grandmothers trip to Hawaii in the 1960’s and photos from Rory and I’s recent trip there. Nothing was ever an issue to change or modify and Brent included illustrations of myself and Rory that I would have never have thought of, they ended up making the invitation. Brent also did the manipulated the invite artwork for two customer surfboards Rory had made as our wedding presents. The invite artwork was inlayed onto the front of the board and then the fabric from Rory’s wedding shoes was inlaid into the back ( limited edition VANS sneakers from the Triple Crown of Surfing Event at Pipeline on the North Shore of Hawaii- Rory purchased these the day after we got engaged in Hawaii). The Boards were shaped and glassed by McTavish and @_theditch_.
